Catering

The kitchen helpers by Geoff Pillinger/Mike Curling

Tea Ladies in the 1970s

The Ladies catering teams comprised of player’s wives, past player’s wives and volunteers. They provided meals at the Recreation Ground after home matches, catering for both home and visiting sides.

In the 1970s and 1980s they were led by Vi Brinkworth, (wife of Tom Brinkworth), and Stella Roberts, (wife of John Roberts)

In 1987, the catering after home matches, was taken on by Fuller Fayre, a Bath catering company run by Nicky Swift and Jenny Pillinger, wife of past player Geoff Pillinger.

Fuller Fayre expanded it’s catering portfolio to include meals for players after training at the Lambridge ground. It continued to provide meals for the players until the introduction of professional rugby in 1995/96.
