The Recreation Ground

The Recreation Ground is the current home of Bath Rugby, sitting in the heart of the City and recognised as one of the most beautiful grounds in English rugby a description given by the visiting Springboks who played the first match of their 1912/13 tour against Somerset on The Rec.

From the first use of the Rec on 6 October 1894 the ground has been subjected to extensive flooding but since river flood prevention was put in place the field of play remains relatively free of flood water
