W. F. Dolman,who like his great friend J T Piper, gave a lifetime of service to the cause of Rugby Football. He first played for Avonvale RFC on its formation in 1894. He later he played for Bath Hornets. He took up refereeing shortly after. He was a founder member of the Bath Rugby Referees Association and was its President for many years. He was elected a patron of the County R.F.U for his services to the game.

He was a founder member of the Bath and District Rugby Combination and the Bath and District Rugby Insurance Fund and was President of both Societies until his death. He was also Chairman and ultimately President of Walcot Old Boys RFC for many years and yet found time to be Hon.Secretary at Oldfield Park R.F.C.

He was Chairman of Bath Harlequins for many years and later became a Vice -President. He was also Vice-President of Combe Down R.F.C, Avon R.F.C and Bath Civil Service R.F.C and finally a member of Bath Schools Rugby Union from it’s formation until his death in 1959 at the age of 86.
