Baggage/Wet Sponge man ( very few club physiotherapists at this time)
A popular team support man who was efficient and dedicated to the 1st XV.
He retrieved shirts, shorts and socks, muddy, wet or dry and made sure that everything was packed into the laundry baskets before and after away games
For home games he made sure that the right jersey was on the right peg for the players.
His entry on to the pitch with a wet sponge was often accompanied with the crowd imitating the sound of an ambulance!
