Career details:

Alex Brown was a highly rated lock when he made his Bath first team debut as a replacement for Deiniol Jones in the 60-15 friendly victory over Oxford University in October 1997. A product of Colston’s School and a member of the Daily Mail Cup winning side of his year, Alex represented England at both under-19 and under-21 levels, before going on to play for the full England XV in a non-cap match against the Barbarians at Twickenham in 2003. His ability in the line out marked him out as an excellent prospect but unfortunately for Alex, the international trio of Nigel Redman, Martin Haag and German Llanes blocked his path to a regular spot in the second row. As such, Alex only made one further replacement appearance, in a 13-29 loss to the touring Tongans. He left for Bristol at the end of that season, after a brief loan spell with Pontypool and went on to become the Bristol player of the Year for season 2000/2001.

Signed From: Bath Rugby Academy

Transferred To: Bristol, Pontypool (loan)
