Career details:

Paul Sampson signed for Bath Rugby on a three-week deal to help alleviate the club’s injury worries that at one stage saw twelve backs stricken with injury. The London Wasps winger was surplus to requirements at the time as ironically former Bath Rugby winger Tom Voyce had taken his place. The one time England prospect, who has lightening pace, made his debut appearance for the club as a late replacement for Jamie Williams in the thrilling 20pts-14pts victory over Gloucester at Kingsholm in November 2003. He thereafter returned to London to battle for a place in the Wasps 1st XV. However, things did not work out for him at Wycombe and he became a free agent before Bath re-signed him to cover for a catalogue of injuries that struck the club’s backs. The former England Schools, Colts and under-21 player went on to appear in the side three further times later in the season and won a call up to the England Sevens squad for the IRB World Series. He left Bath at the end of the 2003/2004 season and secured a trial with Wigan Warriors Rugby League side.
