Paddy was a strong, fierce scrummager who was well respected in the Bath Combination world. However, he struggled to gain a Bath 1st XV position due to the dominance of Peter Parfitt, Williams and Peter Jenkins in the frontrow. The records show that Paddy only played one game for the 1st XV – against St Marys Hospital
