Joined the Club in 1973 when he moved to Bath for work, Steve played most of his career – 12 seasons – in the Spartans & United. A back row forward by inclination he showed a versatility by playing in every position for the Spartans, except fly-half (kicking out of hand was not a strength!). As the club began to prosper in the late 70s, Steve was the driving force behind the establishment of the club shop – using a storeroom under the clubhouse as the first outlet. He retired in 1985 and took a year away from the game before returning to the Club to coach the Youth team for three seasons. His last role in the Club was Team Manager for the United between 1989-93. As the professional era approached, Steve took a step back to become a supporter but is still involved today as part of the team putting together the Bath Rugby Heritage project.
