Career details:

Paul Shadbolt was already an England Colts international prop forward when he joined the Bath Rugby Academy for the 1999/2000 campaign. An aggressive scrummager, Bath Rugby had high hopes for the youngster, and yet he only made two substitute appearances for the club in a two-year spell. Paul made his Bath Rugby debut as a replacement for Clem Boyd in an 18pts-17pts mid-season friendly win over Glasgow Caledonians at the Recreation Ground in January 2000. His second and final appearance came less than a month later when he replaced Chris Horsman during the 55pts-12pts rout of Saracens, again in a mid-season friendly match. With his high credentials, Paul was never going to struggle to find a club once he departed the scene at Bath and he duly signed on for the Rugby Lions at the beginning of the 2000/2001 season.
